Scholarship value

Fee waiver and Stipend at the standard Research Council rate (Home rate only: £4,407 (fees) and £15,285 (stipend) in 2020/21). The 2021/2022 rate is yet to be announced by the UK Research Councils.

Deadline

Applications will be put forward by their Academic School by Sunday April 18 2021 for consideration by the Panel.

Criteria

  • Open to overseas/home/EU fee paying students.
  • Scholarships are available on a cotutelle (dual award) basis only.
  • Students have to spend at least 12 months at Kent and Lille.
  • Before applying students are required to identify an academic supervisor from Kent and Lille.
  • Applications can be for staff-led projects, which will be advertised separately, or student-led original research projects.

Further details

The Joint Kent-Lille PhD Scholarship partnership is funding 3 PhD scholarships (notionally 1 in Arts and Humanities, 1 in Natural Sciences or Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and 1 in Human and Social Justice) for 2021/2022 the projects are yet to be announced.

Jointly supervised PhDs (widely known as cotutelles) offer PhD students the chance to be jointly supervised by the University of Kent and a university in another country, resulting in a dual award: a PhD from Kent and a doctorate from the partner university.
